snow day...err...snow week

Last Sunday I went to the grocery store (like any good southern would) because the nice weatherman told me it would snow. I love how in the south the slightest possibility of snow means you HAVE to go buy bread and milk. You know if there are two snowflakes on the ground you will surely perish without bread and milk. Truthfully, my grocery trip didn't include bread or milk. I had gotten those two things in an earlier trip that week. I only cook with milk and use bread for sandwiches at school. I got lots of other things at the grocery store. My buggy was full. I usually make one big trip to the grocery store each month. It was my weekend to go regardless of the weather. I saved over $25 at Publix that day. Saving money makes me happy, because I am cheap like that. Well, the nice weatherman said that we could get 4-8 inches of snow. I laughed out loud at that comment. (I love a Junie B. reference :) I have lived in Alabama all of my life. I have never seen more than 2-3 inches of snow, and that was at Christmas. They announced late Sunday afternoon that we wouldn't have snow. We like to cancel school over the possibility of snow. We don't snowflakes to cancel school. Sure enough around 8 o'clock snow flakes started falling. And not just two snowflakes. I have never seen so many snowflakes in my life! They kept coming and coming and coming. And they stuck, too! Usually Alabama snowflakes don't stick to much. In no time there was a good 3 inches on the ground and the snowflakes weren't stopping. Then there was a storm with thunder and lightening. Everyone in Alabama learned a new word, thundersnow. It is a storm with thunder, lightening, and snow! Go figure! It began to cross my mind that we might be out of school for more than a day. Aside from our groceries, Southerners aren't really prepared for snow. Also, we don't know how to drive in it. Sure enough we were out of school again on Tuesday. And Wednesday. And Thursday. And Friday, too! We missed a whole week of school! Three of those days we will have to make up. We had two snow days built into the school calendar. Chances are they will be tacked on to the end of the year which means our last day of school could be June 1st! We have never had school in June!
Snow!
I had 8 inches of snow on the ground on Monday morning!
I had never seen so much snow!
Bella checking out the snow in her velour jacket.
No, I am not a person who dresses up her dog in clothes. On Saturday Bella got a hair cut. The groomer took off most of her hair, because she had some mats. Why did she have mats in her hair? Because she doesn't let me brush her. Also, you shouldn't brush curly hair. I should know. It makes it look like you stuck your finger in a light socket.

"Mama, what is this white stuff?"

 I think I will investigate this white stuff.
Bella loved the snow! She liked running, jumping, and playing in it!
She did not like the snowman the children built. She barked at him.
Camy the Camry under snow

My apartment complex

Camy after I scraped snow off of her, because snow will freeze into ice and fluffy snow is easier to get off compared to ice.

look at all that snow!

I got all the snow off the windows. I moved the wiper blades like that because I saw where other people had done that. It seemed like a good idea. I wonder why people do that. I left it like that until that night.

 Someone shoveled the sidewalk to the parking lot. Thank you to that nice person.
Sorry for making you turn your head to check out the snow on the stairs. Pretend that I fixed the picture prior to uploading it :)

Apparently in a thundersnow snow gets blown into the breezeway under the covering. This was not good. It didn't warm  up so this later was ice.
Snow=fun (for a while)
Ice= no fun and injuries

Later I will post about what I did on my snow break...
Stay tuned!
