1. I am easily annoyed by people. Really. I am. Yesterday, I had a doctor's appointment at 4:00. I had purposely tried to avoid a during school appointment. My class isn't substitute friendly. Well my doctor is part of a practice that has an office in Madison and Decatur. Well my doctor told me to come in the end of last week or the beginning of this week. This was my post-op check up and it has been two weeks. So yesterday I go be-bobbing into the office 10 minutes early. Shocking I know. I tell the lady in the office I was there to see Dr. Keller. Her response, "Dr. Keller's not in the office today. He's at the Decatur office today." She saw the confusion on my face. I told her I had an appointment. She asked for my name to check the schedule on the computer. Apparently, when I made my appointment someone in Decatur had answered the phone (something was said about phone calls being rerouted due to meetings) and scheduled my appointment, but never told me that the appointment was in Decatur. *I am lazy and chose a doctor in Madison to avoid driving long distances.* So I am in Madison at 4:00 and Dr. Keller was in Decatur at 4:00. So she tells me that I will have to reschedule. Ugh! I was VERY unhappy at this point. I was fit to be tied. I love Southern phrases :)
Thus being easily annoyed.
I have trouble with afternoon appointments due to extended day and during school is a challenge as well. I knew I had to schedule the appointment asap so I made it for 10:45 this morning and I missed a half day of school. Ugh.
2. 34 school days until summer! Yay! I love my class and I will miss them over the summer, but they aren't an easy group. My half day sub found out the hard way. When I was out for my surgery my sub told another first grade teacher that I should be paid more. Ha!
3. Current worry of the week: my students (both past, present, and future)
Past students: One will be home schooled next year. I don't really believe in homeschooling and it seems to be more for the convenience of the mom than the child.
Some have struggled this year in second grade. It breaks my heart to know they are struggling. Lots of prayers have been said for those children. I absolutely hate to think that a child, especially a young child, is unhappy at school.
Present students:
Getting everyone where they need to be so they are ready for second grade
Surviving the next 34 days
My biggest worry is wondering whose class everyone will be in next year. Not all personalities (teachers and students) mix well.
Future students:
In speaking with some kindergarten teachers this group of kindergartners will be more challenging than the students we have this year. Oh, fun. I pray for the students that I will have next year. There are names I want to see on my roll and names I don't want to see on my roll. Sad, I know. However, I pray that I can be the teacher that my students need me to be. I know God will put the students that I need and the students that need me in my room. I just pray for strength and guidance in teaching them.
4. Here's a fun fact! Bella, my precious dog, thinks she is much bigger than she really is. She is very protective of me. She growls at any person she sees. She even growls when she hears an unusual sound, a knock at the door (or a knock on the TV), and when she hears people talking. I love how she is my little guard dog.
5. I grilled a steak on my George Forman grill this week. I hadn't ever grilled a steak on my own before. I was proud of myself. I wanted it to have a little pink in it, but I didn't want it to be undercooked so it was more medium well instead of medium.
