1. Staying home on a Friday night reminds me of this song.
I tend to think of this as the theme song to my life.
This is one of the first Friday nights at home for me in months. I was bummed about it. Then I took a nap. Then I felt better :)
2. I have a new favorite food: hoe cake. I had never heard of this fun southern dish. My mom had read about it in our favorite cookbook/website Southern Plate. It isn't a cake, at all. It tastes like a big fluffy biscuit.
3. I had a good Friday in first grade. Usually, Friday's are chaotic and hectic and give me a headache. I am not sure how on April Fool's Day, after extra reading tests, a messed up schedule due to testing, and this yucky cold weather that we managed to have one of our better Friday's in first grade this year.
4. I really want the weather to turn sunny and warm (not hot) and stay that way. I got tricked by the weather a few weeks ago when it turned sunny and warm. Then it went back to cloudy and cold. Cold weather after warm weather always seems that much more cold. I really just want to retire all of my pants to the far ends of my closet in exchange for dresses, skirts, and a few capris.
5. Remember when I mentioned walking on the Greenway as a way to clear my head after the break up. Well, I think it is about a two mile walk. I walked the Greenway 3 times in 4 days. Then that next day at school I was in extreme pain in my left foot/ankle. I had my kids bringing me ice packs from the nurse all day long. I was taking more advil than advised and doing so more often than recommended. It didn't help at all. At the end of the day we had a fire drill and I was almost in tears by the time I made it back to my room. I called the doctor's and made an appointment. I had an x-ray done before the appointment which didn't show anything. I didn't think I had broken anything. I hadn't fallen. I never heard a snap, crack, or pop. He gave me some anti-inflammatory medicine, told me to wear a brace, and sent me for an MRI because my ankle kinda flops inward. Apparently, it is not suppose to do that. So last Friday I went for an MRI of my ankle. I didn't know how long it would take, but I figured not too long. Wrong. Ankles take 30-45 minutes to get the pictures. 30-45 minutes of being very, very still. I was laying down on a Friday afternoon being still. Well, that means I started to doze off. It was rather relaxing. The girl giving the scan did have to remind me once or twice to be still. I think when I started to doze off I would relax and my foot would move. Anyways, I got the results back on Tuesday. I have tendinosis in my foot. I now have physical therapy to start next Tuesday which makes it a whole two weeks after the original pain began. Last Tuesday my foot was killing me. Since then it hasn't been bothering me so I don't know how physical therapy is going to go. I did a google search on tendinosis. What did everyone do before google and google searches? It basically means there are tears on a cellular level in my tendons. It is something that gets inflamed and irritated so I know that although I am not in pain right now, due to the fact that I have been wearing tennis shoes instead of flip flops and staying off my feet, the pain could easily come back. I'll let you know how PT goes next week.
