part time plumber

So in my time not spent on the computer or sleeping (I slept until 3:00 the other day. Yikes!) I try to do a little cleaning. Now because I am so ADD cleaning is either done in a hurry like when someone is on their way over to my apartment or in small doses like cleaning one area not the whole apartment. Now my least favorite cleaning chores are dusting and cleaning the bathtub. I hate cleaning the bathtub more than cleaning the toliet. Is that weird? Dusting just grosses me out. Yuck! So lately I have had to clean my bathtub much more frequently than I would like because there was soap scum. So gross. So I would clean and within half a week the soap scum would be back. I tried different cleaning products and it would get clean, but it would always come back. Then I realized that my bathtub wasn't draining properly. Common causes for this include soap scum (yuck) and hair (I have lots of that). So I did some online research about clogged bathtub drains, grabbed my yellow rubber cleaning gloves (best spent $1 at the dollar store), tweezers (that are now only used in cleaning situations), and got to work. I tweezed out A LOT of hair. I seriously was gagging over it and it was my hair. Disgusting! That made it better but not great. I boiled a pot of hot water and poured that down the drain to help break up more soap scum and hair. Then I tweezed some more. Then I poured some baking soda down the drain and some white vinegar on top of that. While that was erupting and reacting I boiled another pot of water to rinse it down the drain. A couple of days ago I couldn't take a shower without it turning into a bath as well due to my poorly draining drain. Now when I shower there are itty bitty puddles at my feet because my drain actually drains away the water. Yipee!

Now you might be thinking, "Why is she telling me this story about drains, soap scum, and hair?" Well I am sharing it because I am very proud of myself for fixing the common household problem all by myself with the help of google.

*FYI: I am not available to clean anyone else's drains. Why? I was way grossed out over my own soap scummy hair. I can't handle someone else's soap scummy hair.*
